An arm lift is usually performed when there is significant excess skin on the upper arms. If you have lost weight, and are stable at your new weight, you can choose to have an arm lift. If you have lost weight but choose clothing designed to hide your arms, an arm lift procedure may be right for you.

The arm lift improves the appearance of the upper arm by:

• tightening the skin of the upper arm
• removing excess skin from the upper arm,
• removing fat from the upper arm.

If you have excess fat in your upper arm but not excess skin, you may wish to consider liposuction to remove excess fat. If fat is being removed during a brachioplasty, it will be removed with liposuction.

Your Arm Lift Procedure in San Antonio

Your arm lift procedure can be performed under general anesthesia. Dr. Ortegon makes an incision along your upper arm. He will pull the skin of the arm taut and trim away any excess. To remove fat, the doctor will use liposuction. Once excess skin and fat are removed, he will close the incisions.

Following your arm lift, you will need to rest and recover. You will need to care for your incisions and wear special compression garments. You will also have medication to manage pain, and a follow up appointment to have your stitches removed. Dr. Ortegon will tell you what to expect during recovery, including when you should return to exercise and work after your procedure.

The results of your arm lift include are long lasting. You will have a scar along your upper arm after your arm lift. Many patients prefer this scar over excess skin and it should fade significantly over time.
