Think you know everything there is to know about your breasts? From bras to breast implants, here are ten things that you may have missed.

1: There is a Wide Range of Sizes When it Comes to Breasts

In fact, the Guinness World Record for largest natural breasts was awarded to Annie Hawkins-Turner whose chest-over-nipple measurement is 70 inches. That is nearly six feet!

2: The Average Cup Size is Now a DD

Bigger breasts don’t just stop with Annie. According to a recent survey by lingerie retailer, Intimacy, the most popular bra size is now a 34DD. Just 20 years ago, the average was a 34B. While the increasing popularity of breast augmentation procedures may factor into this change, it may also be due to…

3: Most Women Are Wearing the Wrong Cup-Size

Intimacy’s bra study also found that 85 percent of women are wearing the wrong cup-size. There are professional bra fittings and at-home kits to help women find their proper cup size.

4: Breast Asymmetry is a Common Issue

A vast majority of women struggle with uneven breasts. Most have one breast that is larger than the other by a fifth of a cup size. Breast asymmetry is one of the top reasons for breast augmentation.

5: The Majority of Women Aren’t Happy With Their Breasts

According to the International Journal of Sexual Health, about 70 percent of women are not happy with the size, position, or shape of their breasts.

6: The Bra is Still a Relatively New Invention

Women were wearing corsets up until the invention of the backless brassiere in 1914. It wasn’t until 1920 that the bra we know today was invented by Maidenform founders, Ida and William Rosenthal.

7: Breasts Tend to Move Around A Lot

During high levels of movement or activity – such as running – your breasts tend to move in a figure-eight and can travel up to eight inches in either direction. This is why it is always important to always wear proper support when exercising or participating in high levels of activity.

8: Breast Pain Often Happens With Exercise

According to the British Journal of Sports Medicine, nearly one in three marathon runners experience breast pain due to this movement of the breasts. Women who suffer from macromastia (the medical term for overly large breasts) often struggle with exercise and are more at risk of obesity. Many women seek out breast reduction to resolve these issues and the patient satisfaction ratings for the procedure are superb.

9: Breast Implants Can Lead to a Better Sex Life

According to a survey by RealSelf last year, 61 percent of women said that they are now having more sex after receiving implants and 70 percent said that their sex-life satisfaction had improved.

10: Breast Augmentation is STILL Number One

Breast augmentation has been the most popular cosmetic surgery procedure since 2006, and last year, the breast lift, came in at number five.
