There are millions of people who would love to feel more voluptuous – about their lips, that is. We see women like Angelina and Kim, or even men like Johnny Depp, with rounded, voluminous lips, and we want the same for ourselves. Well, you can have the volume you want, and you don't have to go so far as surgery to get it. Many people are turning to dermal fillers like Juvederm to get the shape that suits their face. Here, we will discuss a few interesting points about lip injections that are easy to miss.

  1. Lip injections are all about you! Yes, we talk about celebrities when discussing the features we admire. Yes, Kendall and Kylie (along with sister Kim) have set the internet aflame with talk of their luscious lips. That being said, a picture of your favorite celebrity mouth is only a guide. Your treatment will focus on bringing out the best in what is already there on your face. Lips, nose, chin, and cheeks should harmonize.
  2. Worried about a painful process? We can understand this; many of our patients tell us that they postponed their desired treatment for far too long just because the very idea of lip injections sounded painful. Here's what we want you to know: one, there is Lidocaine in the Juvederm solution. Two, taking an over-the-counter pain reducer prior to your dermal filler treatment can help (just don't take aspirin, or you may bruise). Three, ice can do wonders to numb your lips for treatment.
  3. You will see your final results a day or two after your treatment. Prior to this, your lips may be slightly swollen as the hyaluronic acid integrates into soft tissues. The average life span of results is 4 to 6 months. Every now and then, a patient says “Whoa! Too much!” This is not a problem. A follow-up treatment with hyaluronidase can reduce the effects of the hyaluronic acid filler, diminishing the degree of plumpness as desired.
